50 People Treated for Snake Bites in Altai Region.

BARNAUL, August 6 (Itar-Tass) - About 50 people were treated for snake bites in Russia's southern Siberia's Altai region in the second half of July, medics told Itar-Tass on Thursday. 

Some people even had to be hospitalized but there were no fatalities. Snakes' unusual aggressiveness has been observed for the first time in a decade. Biologists explain it by lingering heat and drought. 

Doctors said poisonous snakes attack people both in forest and suburbs. 

A one-meter adder recently bit a woman in the highland part of Barnaul, at the edge of a wooded strip of land, they said.
